Who is Jaykays Dance Company?

Jaykays Dance Company was established in 2006 by Principal Jeren Hogben. The dance school has grown dramatically over the years and now delivers 50 dance classes per week to around 300 students. We offer dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Freestyle, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, and LAMDA. Our dance classes are creative and fun, delivered in a nurturing and encouraging environment.

Registration

As you enter the driveway you will see the sign for Jaykays Dance Company upon entry. A Jaykays flag will be visible as a signpost for anyone unfamiliar with the venue. Our doors open at 8.55 am where a member of the Jaykays teaching team will meet and greet you, sign your child in and answer any questions. If another adult is collecting your child then please let us know at the signing in desk.

Children will be asked to drop their lunchboxes off in the kitchen and then shown where they can put their bags, shoes and coats inside the studio.

My child has a medical condition

We need to be aware of any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries when you make your booking. If your child requires medication during their day, please let us know at the signing-in desk upon arrival, and we will ask you to complete a brief medical form. Any information relating to your child’s medical condition will be shared with confidence within our teaching team only.

Illness & accidents

If your child becomes unwell during the day, a teaching team member will call you to make you aware and may ask you to collect them. All of our teaching team are first aid trained, and any accidents will be treated accordingly and recorded in our accident book. In the unlikely event of a more serious incident, you will be called immediately.

Behaviour

At Jaykays Dance Company, we do have a behaviour policy in place to ensure all of our dancers get the best experience. This will be discussed at the start of every day. We encourage and reward positive behaviour and will deal with inappropriate behaviour firmly and fairly. Our teaching team are all experienced at working with children, and any issues will be dealt with if they arise. If any poor behaviour persists and begins to affect our other dancers, then you will be contacted and asked to collect your child.

***if your child has any additional learning needs, is in possession of an IEP or has any mental health problems, then it is very important that you let us know. With your support we will do what we can to meet their needs in our environment to ensure your child and our other dancers have the best experience.

I’m late!

Your prompt pick up at 3pm is greatly appreciated, however we understand that sometimes you may be running a little late. Don’t panic! Please contact our Summer School Leader Connor Woon on – 07532779787

Tuck shop

We will have a small tuck shop available every day where dancers can buy a flavoured drink such as a Capri Sun, a cookie or biscuit and a piece of fruit for £1. If your child would like to access this, please send them with £1 cash.

Are you OFSTED registered?

Jaykays Dance Company is not a childcare provider, therefore we are not OFSTED registered and do not accept childcare vouchers. We deliver dance tuition and dance education, that is awarded and regulated by various external bodies. We are an IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) school, and are also a CDMT (Council for Dance and Musical Theatre) recognised school. Both of these external bodies are there to ensure we are delivering safe dance practice with the correct insurances and policies in place.
