We’re excited to offer our Introduction to Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Modern Dance course. Perfect for those who are new to dance or looking to build confidence, this programme provides a fantastic introduction to our teen dance classes in Leamington Spa, covering the fundamental techniques of ballet, tap and contemporary modern dance in a welcoming and supportive setting.
Throughout the course, students will develop coordination, musicality and technique while discovering the enjoyment of learning and expressing themselves through movement. As a result, dancers gain a strong foundation across multiple styles while building confidence, creativity and performance skills.
This combination class is an excellent way for young dancers to experience different forms of dance before progressing into our wider range of teen dance classes in Leamington Spa.

Once the course is complete, dancers will have the skills and confidence to progress into one of our regular classes. Depending on interest and progression, we may also offer a follow-on course for continued training and development.
Comfortable clothing that you can move around in, and either jazz shoes or bare feet are fine. For tap wear trainers unless you have tap shoes.
Designed for committed dancers who are ready to deepen their technical understanding. understanding and refine their classical training, these ballet classes focus on building strong, clean technique through structured barre and centre work. Particular attention is given to alignment, placement, coordination and musicality, helping students develop a solid technical foundation.
In addition, stretch and conditioning exercises are integrated throughout each session to safely improve flexibility, strength and control as dancers mature and their technique advances. For eligible students, pointe work is introduced progressively, with a strong emphasis on correct preparation, safe practice and long-term strength development. Through carefully guided training, dancers build stability in the feet, ankles, legs and core, creating confidence and security when working en pointe.

Our Freestyle & Acro Dance classes for Years 7–13 are high-energy, dynamic sessions designed for students who love to move with power, confidence and style. Combining commercial freestyle dance with controlled acrobatic skills, these classes create exciting, impactful movement that is perfect for performance and stage work.
Within freestyle training, students focus on musicality, performance quality and confidence while exploring current dance styles, sharp choreography and individual flair. Alongside this, acro dance enhances strength, flexibility, balance and control, with acrobatic skills introduced progressively and safely before being integrated into choreography.
Throughout each session, training remains structured and progressive, with a strong emphasis on technique, conditioning and safe practice. Following the internationally recognised Acrobatic Arts syllabus, students improve core strength, coordination and body awareness while learning how to transition seamlessly between dance and acrobatic elements.

Designed for dancers who are ready to explore movement with depth, intention and individuality, this contemporary dance class blends strong technical foundations with creative freedom. As a result, students are encouraged to move beyond set steps and build a personal connection to movement.
Classes explore key contemporary principles including alignment, release, control, flow and dynamics, alongside floor work, travelling sequences and expressive phrase work. In addition, dancers are given opportunities to investigate musicality, texture and emotion, strengthening both physical capability and artistic awareness.
Through a combination of guided improvisation and structured choreography, students gain confidence in their movement choices while enhancing performance quality and versatility. Contemporary dance also complements training across multiple styles, improving coordination, flexibility, stamina and expressive range.

Absolutely. We regularly run Introduction to Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Modern Jazz courses for teenagers who are new to dance and would like to learn the fundamentals in a welcoming and supportive environment.
If you’re interested in joining one of our other teen dance classes, we’ll simply arrange a quick chat beforehand to learn more about your previous experience and ability. This helps us recommend the most suitable class, ensuring every dancer feels confident, challenged and supported from day one.

Yes. We welcome boys in all of our Upper School dance classes. At this level, classes are mixed and boys train alongside girls in a supportive, inclusive and encouraging environment.

Yes. Many students participating in our teen dance classes in Leamington Spa choose to work towards examinations through the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA). These recognised dance qualifications provide clear progression routes while helping students develop technical ability, performance skills, discipline and confidence.
At Jaykays Dance Company, we are proud to have maintained a 100% IDTA examination pass rate, reflecting the quality of training, preparation and support our students receive throughout their dance journey.
Examinations offer dancers the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and track their development as they progress through their training.
