It was a fantastic weekend for Jaykays Dance Company, as four of our competition teams took to the floor at the Empower Dance Competition on Sunday 1st November 2026.
Representing our Leamington Spa dance school, our talented young dancers celebrated an incredible collection of achievements, including two prestigious Junior trophies, a competition debut for our youngest team and impressive placings across our Intermediate and Senior teams.
For a dance school that has been part of the Leamington Spa community for over 20 years, moments like these are a wonderful reminder of what dedication, teamwork and a passion for dance can achieve.
Juniors Win Two Trophies with Brand-New Disco Routine
Our talented Junior Competition Team delivered an outstanding performance with their brand-new Disco routine.
Their hard work, energy and performance skills certainly paid off, earning them not one, but two fantastic trophies:
- Highest Junior Troupe Mark Trophy
- Junior Adjudicator’s Choice Trophy
Winning both awards was an incredible achievement, particularly with a new routine. We’re immensely proud of the commitment and enthusiasm our Juniors have shown throughout their training.
Minis Make Their Dance Competition Debut
Another exciting highlight was the debut of our brand-new Minis Competition Team.
For these young dancers, stepping onto the competition floor for the very first time was a huge milestone. From learning their choreography to experiencing the excitement of a competition environment, there was so much to take in.
Most importantly, our Minis embraced the experience and made us incredibly proud.
We hope this is the beginning of many wonderful competition memories for our youngest team!
Inters Celebrate First, Second and Third Place Finishes
Our Intermediate Competition Team also enjoyed a hugely successful day, securing placings with every routine they performed.
Their results included:
- 1st Place – Contemporary
- 2nd Place
- 3rd Place
These fantastic results reflect the dedication, technical development and performance skills of our Intermediate dancers.
Each routine brings different challenges, so achieving placements across all their performances was something worth celebrating.
Seniors Secure Third Place Against Fierce Competition
Our Senior Competition Team faced some particularly strong competition at Empower.
Performing their brand-new Contemporary routine, the team demonstrated their technique, musicality and expressive performance skills to secure an impressive 3rd place.
Contemporary dance demands a combination of strength, control, creativity and emotional expression. Therefore, achieving a podium finish with a new routine was a fantastic result for our Seniors.
More Than Trophies: The Value of Dance Competitions
Although trophies and placements are wonderful achievements, dance competitions offer our students so much more.
They provide opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and performance experience. They also encourage dancers to challenge themselves, embrace feedback and continue developing their skills.
At Jaykays Dance Company, we believe these experiences play an important role in helping young dancers grow, both technically and personally.
Whether it’s a first competition or another performance in a dancer’s journey, every experience offers something valuable.
Proud of Team Jaykays!
What a fantastic day for our four competition teams!
We couldn’t be prouder of every dancer who represented Jaykays at Empower 2026. Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment continue to make our dance school incredibly proud.
A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful teaching team for the countless hours spent choreographing, teaching, rehearsing and supporting our dancers.
Four teams. New challenges. Fantastic achievements. One very proud dance school!
